EAGLE BEACH – Liliana Ceballos was listening to Cool FM last Friday morning and heard the Screaming Eagle’s Chef Erwin and his mother describing the mouthwatering new specials he was adding to the menu. At the end of the program, Liliana sent in a message and one a dinner for two at the restaurant.
September is the month when fresh Brussels sprouts and Savoy cabbage are available again. Screaming Eagle Chef Erwin has combined Brussels sprouts with a mouthwatering fillet of Deer or if you prefer fish, the Dover Sole (Zeetong) has a deliciously delicate texture and is prepared tableside and is served with rolled Savoy cabbage filled with mixed vegetables.
Appetizers include Shish kebab of lamb with salad, hummus, lemon, Moroccan bread and yoghurt-mint sauce; Baked chicken livers with onion, garlic, mushroom and bacon served on brioche toast; Deep fried calamari rings on tomato-basil salad served with garlic-lime mayonnaise; and Spicy-sour fish soup with cilantro.
Main Courses include Pan seared fillet of deer with “stamppotje” of Brussels sprouts, red wine baby onions and cranberry sauce; Pan seared Dover sole (zeetong) with thick sliced fries, savoy cabbage rolls and béarnaise sauce; Vitello tonato of pork tenderloin with pasta, capers, sun dried tomatoes and tuna sauce; and Pan seared duck breast with crepes, spring onion, curry pumpkin, white rice and hoi-sin sauce.
