The general meeting attended some serious business by adopting its new by-laws to make them more relevant to the wishes of the members of the Association and to allow it a much stronger ‘Business Focus’. The Association also discussed how to expedite the pending construction of an Indian Center in Aruba so that it can share various aspects of Indian culture like Yoga and Vegetarian Food with the entire Aruban community.
After dealing with the Activities Calendar for the rest of the year, the Association took to recognizing its past board of two years which consisted of Gopal Sawilani as President, Naresh Kanal as Vice President, Nash Melwani as Secretary, Raj Daswani as Treasurer and Jagdish Daryanani & Rajesh Matai as directors. Sumptuous Buffet lunch at Tandoor was the perfect backdrop for carrying out a heavy agenda on a Sunday afternoon. The lunch was followed by a Labor Law presentation by Brown law firm.
Indian Association of Aruba has over 30 members in varied businesses like Clothing, General Merchandise, Restaurant, Souvenir, Decoration, Electronics, Insurance and Jewelry. Many of these businesses are also members of ATIA and AHATA. The accompanying pictures show the proceedings of the general assembly of the IAA.
